TVP Volunteer Gardening Day in Jubilee Corner
On Sunday 21st November 2010, nine gardening enthusiasts gathered at Jubilee Corner, with permission from Twyford Parish Council, to give the gardens an Autumn make-over. This event was organised by the Environmental Action Group of Twyford Village Partnership and was supported by members of the TVP Business Forum, as part of the work currently taking place jointly with Twyford Parish Council to establish a 10-year maintenance plan for the Parish’s green spaces. There was a high level of horticultural expertise among the volunteers, and a lot of thought has been put into creating an area with year-round variety that will encourage biodiversity, with particular emphasis on attracting butterflies into the gardens.
After two hours of weeding, pruning and planting (all plants kindly donated by the volunteers themselves) the gardens were looking great.
The area will be the centre of attention again soon when the Christmas Tree goes up on 30th November as part of the preparations ahead of the TVP Christmas Fayre on Friday 3rd December.
Thank you to everyone who came along and helped, it is hoped that another gardening day can be arranged for April 2011.
