About Us
Our Aim as a village partnership is to protect and enhance the character of Twyford by serving as a focus for economic improvement, environmental enhancement, community safety and community involvement, for the benefit of all who live and work within Twyford, and visitors to the centre.
Our Objective is to build a strong partnership of local authorities, businesses, residents, schools, church groups, youth and community groups, and other interested parties, which will represent the views of people in Twyford and its neighbouring villages.
Our History
Twyford Village Partnership used to be called Twyford Village Centre Management Initiative (TVCMI). The group TVCMI was set up in February 2001 with two main objectives. First, to manage the opportunities and threats arising from the arrival of Waitrose in the village and to underpin the vitality and viability of Twyford village centre as a place to shop, work and live. Secondly, TVCMI was able to access grants and funding opportunities that bodies such as Parish and Borough Councils could not. TVCMI was formed as a partnership with other local groups and organisations such as Twyford Parish Council, neighbouring Parish Councils, schools, local church groups, community groups, residents, Wokingham Borough Council and local businesses, particularly Waitrose.
TVCMI was re-launched in 2008 as Twyford Village Partnership with the principle aim of producing a Parish Plan. The group aims to form working partnerships with local groups and organisations and foster a community spirit for both residents and businesses.
