Skate Park and Ball Court

The skate park and ball court project was taken up by the Youth Working Group of TVCMI in 2001. Although this project has encountered difficulty with progress over the years, it is now an excellent facility for the community. The way funding for this project has been collected typifies the ability of TVCMI (now Twyford Village Partnership) to attract money from disparate sources, including landfill tax, developers’ money, Lottery and Youth Opportunities funds via the Borough Council and the valued contributions of local charities.

Thank you to everone who helped to make this such a great afternoon! In particular to Andrea from Wokingham Borough Council's Sports Development Unit who put us through our paces with a fun netball match. Special thanks go to Ben, Tin-Tin and Spud from The Reading Rockets who had children of all ages bouncing balls and discovering the joys of basketball. It was great to see so many people enjoying the new facilities.

The Skate-Off competition went well, thank you to Hard Edge Reading Ltd for donating the prizes, and we are very proud of the young people for stepping up, assisting with the risk assessment and wearing the safety helmets. Entertainment was provided by local skate-band "Coopers Rage" and Marilyn in Twyford Youth Centre provided refreshments all afternoon.
